Sonoma Charter School

Helén Johansson studied Human Resources at the University of Umeå in Sweden. She entered this field because she knew she wanted to work with people in the future. Throughout her academic years she volunteered each week as a Scout Leader for the local co-ed Sea Scouts. After moving to California, she found the passion for teaching and got her teaching credential from Dominican University in 1999. In 2001, when her oldest daughter Mia was 18 months old, Helén started her first year of teaching at Sonoma Charter School. She taught 1st/2nd grade for two full years until youngest daughter Emily was born. Helén stayed home for two years with Emily and came back to teach 4th/5th grade at Sonoma Charter School! Helén loves being back at SCS and is thoroughly enjoying the grade level she is teaching right now! Being gone for two years made her realize how much she missed teaching.
